Edgar Zapata has been with Anderson & Associates since 1988.  Zapata is the company president and also the fracture mechanics and fatigue testing expert with additional experience in failure analysis, stress analysis and has served as an expert witness.

Zapata holds both bachelor and master of science degrees in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University.  His thesis focused on fracture toughness testing.  A licensed professional engineer, he is an active member of ASME and ASTM Committee E8 on Fatigue and Fracture.

His publications include “A Metallurgical Failure Analysis of a Domestic Water Pump Impeller” in Engineering Failure Analysis, Vol. 1, and "Fatigue Cracking of a Welded Roll" Case Studies for Fatigue Education in ASTM STP 1250.

Dr. Ed Bravenec has been with Anderson & Associates since 1984.  He came to the company as the chief metallurgical engineer and was promoted to his current position in 1989.  Prior to joining the company, he spent 27 years with Armco steel and also worked for Hughes Tool and Eastern State Petroleum.

A graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso with a bachelor of science degree in metallurgical engineering, Bravenec also holds a master of science in industrial engineering from the University of Houston and a doctorate in metallurgy from Pacific Western University.

Bravenec is a fellow of ASM International and a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.  He is a past chairman of the Houston Chapter of ASM and a senior member of the American Society for Quality Control.  He is a professional engineer licensed by the state of Texas.

Bravenec has presented more than 50 technical lectures to national technical societies and universities.  He also has more than 30 national publications.  In his career he has written over 3,500 failure analysis reports for clients.

In 1999, Bravenec received the ASME W.R. Woolrich Engineer of the Year award.

Richard P. Wilson, Jr., P.E.

Before joining Anderson & Associates, Richard Wilson spent 28 years in the casting, oil field and power industries. A licensed professional engineer in the state of Texas, Wilson has extensive experience in the Casting, Welding and Heat Treatment of materials ranging from Super alloys used in gas turbines to high strength steels used in Oil Field Equipment. He presently has two patents pending through past employers for improved oil tool production techniques and methods by which to extend the time between maintenance outages for combustion turbines.

Wilson is a graduate of the Colorado School of Mines with a Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering. He has been an active member of the Houston Chapter of the American Society for Metals for the past twenty years and was Chapter Chairman in 2002-2003. Wilson was an active participant in the development of the ASM handbook on welding and was a member of the American Society of Welding's C6b Committee on Friction Welding. He has been responsible for the heat treating of over 6,000 tons of steel used in oilfield drilling and for the production of over 20,000 strands of various drill pipe. He was also responsible for the processing of castings used on the F-16 fighter and on nuclear submarines.

Steve Anderson has been with Anderson & Associates since 1974 working as a failure analyst and metallurgist.  Anderson is a graduate of the University of Houston with a bachelor of science degree in engineering technology.  As a past president of Anderson & Associates, he continues his involvement in the company as a metallurgical consultant.
